Classes

The following classes are suited to those with no previous music experience:

The following classes require an audition and/or instructor’s approval:

ADVANCED PLACEMENT MUSIC THEORY

ALLEGROS – CHAMBER CHOIR

ADVANCED ORCHESTRA (Mariachi) This year this class has turned into a Mariachi class!

ADVANCED BAND (Marching Band/Concert Band) This class meets during Period 7 (after school) in order to accommodate student scheduling needs. During the Fall Semester, the class serves as the Mighty Gondolier Marching Band. Extra rehearsals are required, as well as a week-long Band Camp prior to the academic school year. In the Spring, the ensemble transitions back into the classroom as Concert Band.

Small Ensemble and Solo Opportunities

PEP BAND  – Perfect for those who have other commitments, but want to keep their chops up. This group joins the Marching Band in the stands during football games, as well as serves at the performance group during Basketball Games during the Winter Season.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE  – Meeting: TBA

MARIACHI – Los Mariachi Gondoleros. 2018-2019 Meeting time: please check for morning announcements!

TRIOS, QUARTETS, and QUINTETS (String, Brass, Woodwind, Vocal) Each fall and spring students begin to form small ensembles of their choosing and prepare various musical literature for local community, solo/ensemble festival, and concert performance.

SOLO OPPORTUNITIES  Students with an exceptional desire and musical skill who wish to take their musical abilities to the next level and showcase their talents have the opportunity to perform in both the Winter and Spring Concerts as well as in state and local solo/small ensemble festivals. Students are encouraged to audition for honor groups each year and perform as part of sanctioned solo festivals open to any talented and driven musician at VHS!
